About Me
I was born and raised in Skokie, IL where I attended Highland Elementary School, Old Orchard Jr. High, and Niles North High School. Upon graduating high school I moved to Urbana, Illinois where I attended the University of Illinois as an Elementary Education major. For the past four years of my undergrad, I have worked as an aide for a boy with special needs both in his home and in his school. I student taught in Philo, Illinois in a wonderful fifth grade classroom, and then at Johnathan Burr Elementary School in Chicago, IL in a 6-8th grade classroom. I have always wanted to come back and work with the community that has helped shaped me into the person I am today. I am beyond excited to continue my career at Fairview South! This is my second year at Fairview. Last year I taught 5th and 6th grade core. This year I will be teaching two sections of 5th grade core.
In my personal life, I am an avid tennis player and enjoy running as often as my schedule will allow. Although I have not seen much of the world, it has always been a dream of mine to travel throughout Asia and Europe. My mother immigrated to the United States when she was 17 years old as a refugee from Laos. When arriving in the U.S., she met my father who worked as a Social Worker before beginning his career at Northwestern University. I have one older brother who is a Northwestern graduate and now is a researcher and chemist in New York. My family has always been my biggest supporter. I believe in having a strong connection with my students' families to ensure a holistic learning experience.
